The Florida Gators college football team has managed to prevail again, defeated Baton Rouge Louisiana's Tigers with 13 to 3 this past week.
In front of a record breaking crowd of more than 93,000 screaming fans at Tiger Stadium, the No. 1 Florida Gator team that currently sits at 5 and 0 with 3 and 0 for the SEC managed to take down the number 4 team, the LSU Tigers, who are currently sitting at 5 and 1 and 3 and 1 SEC with an end game score of 13 to 3 on Saturday. This managed to extend the longest active winning streak in the nation for a team on the road with fifteen games and running so far. This win by Florida managed to snap the Saturday Night winning streak that the LSU team was maintaining up until now. The Gators managed to hold the Tigers to a mere 162 yards in total offense while playing this week in Baton Rouge.
The senior quarterback, who is Tim Tebow from Jacksonville in Florida managed to complete 11 out of 16 passes, and he threw a touchdown in the team's victory. The junior tight end for the Gators, Aaron Hernandez who is from Bristol in Connecticut managed to lead the receiving corps for the team, and he managed to reel in a total of six receptions for a total of 70 yards. Jeff Demps, a sophomore athlete from Winter Garden in Florida managed to amass a total of 86 yards on a total of 16 carries, which helped to lead Florida on the ground.
It wasn't even until the second quarter that LSU managed to score. A failed conversion during the fourth down with 12:08 remaining during the second quarter allowed LSU to take the ball on their own 20, and then a series of penalties on Florida's behalf allowed the LSU Tigers to advance a total of 77 yards down the field, where they claimed 3 points with a field goal on the behalf of John Jasper.
Luckily, the Gators were able to maintain their defense, keeping LSU at 3. They held the Tigers throughout the next few quarters. During the fourth quarter, and after securing four consecutive first downs, LSU had to turn the ball over to the Gators on downs, and this sealed in the victory of 13 to 3 on the behalf of the Florida Gators.
Florida is working on returning home for a homecoming weekend match in Gainesville. They will be matching up with the Razorbacks from Arkansas on October 17, and they will be playing at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. September 28th, 2009 — Florida Gators Football, Gator Game Preview, Gator News, LSU Tigers

Surviving this first third of this season for college football has appeared to be something of an extended stand at the goal line for the country's top ten teams. Nine teams have already fallen during the first month of this exciting season, including three that fell just on Saturday alone. LSU just recently narrowly avoided having been the fourth victim this past weekend, having managed to hold of Mississippi State within mere inches of those go-ahead points with only a minute remaining. There are six teams out of the top ten that at current remain undefeated. The University of Florida Gators and the LSU Tigers are two of these teams, and they are slated to go up against one another on October 10.
Florida is currently undefeated at 4 and 0. A lot of their success this week is going to depend on how well the quarterback, Tim Tebow manages to recover, as he recently sustained a concussion on Saturday night while playing against Kentucky. He managed to return home on Sunday afternoon after he spent the night in a hospital in Lexington, Kentucky but only for precautionary purposes. Tebow was injured during the third quarter, and the Gators were ahead at that point with 31 to 7.
He ended up being sacked, and his helmet was struck by a knee. He was already suffering from a respiratory infection so this is only adding fuel to the fire for him. He flew to Lexington on a plane with a small collection of players that was separate from the team. The school also paid for another plane, a third one, for the other players that were ill.
The Gators are heading off this weekend to go up against the No. 4. team, LSU. The status of Tim Tebow is not currently known, and is not actually expected to be revealed until several days have passed.
LSU is also currently undefeated at 4 and 0. Their goal line stand up against Mississippi state was probably the best that they've had so late in the game since somewhere around 1959. This was when Warren Rabb teamed up with Billy Cannon to stop Ole Miss' Doug Elmore just a bit short of a touchdown on October 31, which preserved their 89 yard legendary punt return for a 7 to 3 win, where they claimed an eventual Heisman Trophy.
Things have been tough for LSU so far, and it is really only going to get tougher for them now. While both teams may be as yet undefeated, the UF Gators have a lot of spark that simply does not seem capable of being stopped. The only thing that is going to give LSU an edge is if Tim Tebow has to sit the game out while he recovers from the double hit of a respiratory illness and a concussion, which could be enough to keep him sidelined this upcoming week.
