Game Preview: Kentucky Wildcats vs Gators

kentucky

The Florida Gators will be continuing the SEC action when they go to Lexington in Kentucky on September 26 to visit the Wildcats. Kick off is slated to begin at 6 o'clock pm, and the entire game is going to be broadcast over ESPN 2.

The wildcats, in the meantime, are trying to learn from their past mistakes against the gators.

Rich Brooks is not really sure what it is going to take for Kentucky to upset the Gators, who are currently top ranked. The Gators are coming to the Commonwealth Stadium in Kentucky this upcoming Saturday.

What he does know, however, is what it is not going to take, which is another poor performance that is similar to the one that they exhibited in their comeback win of 31 to 27 against their arch-rivals Louisville over this past weekend. According to Brooks, during that came they gave up too many really big plays for his liking.

Playing against Louisville, the Wildcats managed to rally twice during the second half, allowing them to overcome three turnovers in the third quarter as well as a barrage of long-yard plays that were orchestrated by the offense of Louisville.

According to the coach, these turnovers are absolutely inexcusable. It is not normal for the turnover battle to be lost and the game to still be won, according to Brooks. If you keep making big mistakes, then you are not going to win any game. You definitely are not going to win against the team that is currently no. 1 in the entire country.

Brooks has said that he is working on a game plan to help him with Florida that is going to minimize the amount of turnovers as well as big plays. He wants his team to be able to focus on the things that they do fundamentally well with. He added that the ability for Tennessee to handle the explosive offense of Florida over the weekend was not going to be the basis for the game plan that Kentucky was planning for the upcoming game.

Right now Florida is facing a flu outbreak among many of its players. Brooks acknowledged this and mentioned that the mention of his team's health was also currently a concern leading up to the game on Saturday. He said that Antwane Glenn the sophomore defensive tackle was excused from practice on Sunday after he began to show symptoms resembling the flu. Glenn is going to be isolated from the rest of the team and they are currently working on testing him for H1N1, at least if his symptoms begin to get worse. With the swine flu, this is about more than player simply getting the flu because swine flu could turn it into serious business and a cause for real concern.

Recap: Florida Gators vs Charleston Southern Bucs

Charleston Southern FloridaFor the sake of putting it simply, the Florida Gators wiped the floor with Charleston Southern, walking away with a score of 62-3 after a blowout game on Saturday.

You may say that this was the most boring game going on right now, because all the Florida Gators did was inflicted pain, pain and touch downs.

The game plan for the Gators did not involve Tim Tebow playing under center, or hardly even Tebow playing on the run. The only objective for Florida this week was to be able to rival Usain Bolt while they were on the way to the end zone with their playmakers. Consider these stats for example:

In the first half, the time of possession was 9:25. 35 offensive points were scored. The number of points scored per offensive minute were 3.78 points.

For Tim Tebow's most recent home opener as a Florida Gator, Florida managed to throw up a total of 385 offensive yards within the first 23 minutes alone. If the Gators had not managed to pull their starters out by the second quarter, then they may actually have broken the school's records for offensive yards in a single game with a total of 774.

Even the team's fourth stringers were allowed to be involved in this offensive explosion after the primary playmakers were able to have their go at things, including Riley Cooper, Jeff Demps, Chris Rainey and Aaron Hernandez. Rainey managed to finish a single play, scoring in 76 yards within only 13 seconds.

Cooper is looking more lethal than he looks lethargic after he was given a chance to do more than simply block downfield for once. This senior managed to lead all receivers with five catches in 105 yards and managed to make a catch after throwing up, considering he has been battling a flu bug all throughout the week.

Fans of Tebow had to settle for less than two quarters worth of him playing. He managed to finish 10 out of 15, passing for a total of two touchdowns and 188 yards, with one passing and one was rushing.

This wasn't just a win for Florida -
They came out hard and fast, and proved that they are ready to play some serious ball this season. They wiped the floor with Charleston Southern, and their 62 to 3 score shows that they mean business, and are ready to set and break records, kick butt and walk away with as many wins as possible. Meyer, the coach for the Gators even said that the team has other tricks in its bag that they have yet to pull out, including Tebow being able to take snaps from under center.

Die hard fans of the Gators are certainly going to be kept engaged this season if this keeps up.
