The No. 1 UF Gators have managed to take Kentucky down with 41 to 7 in Lexington.
Still the top ranked college team in football, the Gator football team has managed to improve their score to an overall 4 and 0 and a SEC 2 and 0 after claiming a beautiful 41 to 7 victory against Kentucky this past Saturday evening. The game was held at the Commonwealth Stadium which is located in Lexington Kentucky. The Gators maintained a spark that came about following a first quarter that was record breaking, as they jumped into a quick and beautiful 31 to 0 lead, having amassed a total of 223 offense yards.
The Gators were led to victory by the senior quarterback, Tim Tebow from St. Augustine, Florida, who managed to finish the night with five of ten for a total of 103 years and a touchdown pass. He surpassed the previous season high mark for rushing yardage that he held by tallying 79 yards. He managed to finish the game out with 16 carries, 123 yards and two touchdowns, which marked the first 100 yard long rushing performance for a Gator during this season. He has been propelled into the second place mark in the SEC's record book for all time rushing touchdowns as well.
The Gator offense managed to go right to work, and they managed to make scores on the first five of their drives. The Gator defense on the other hand forced Kentucky into five different three and out situations with their first five possessions of the game.
The second drive of Florida's game began with an excellent field position, beginning on the 36 yard line on the Kentucky side, and they held the Wildcats into a quick three and out. With 7:11 left to play within the first quarter of the game, Florida already had a 10 and 0 advantage over the Wildcats.
The Gators defense managed to hold the Wildcats without a single first down until there was only 8:48 remaining within the first half, but the Wildcats eventually managed to cut into the Gators' lead at the end of the first half, bringing the score to 31 to 7.
In the second half, Florida got its first points with only 3:49 remaining in the third quarter, when Sturgis kicked a 32 yard long field goal, giving Florida a 34 to 7 advantage. By the final stanza, and with only 6:39 remaining on the clock, the Gators managed to launch themselves into a 41 to 7 lead over Kentucky.
The Gators are returning to action in a few weeks on October 10, as they are traveling to Baton Rouge, Louisiana so that they can go up against the LSU Tigers.
